As a Pubic Relations Intern for the museum, I shadowed the Communications Director and the Assistant Communications Director. I wrote press releases, attended media tapings for WRAL News, and wrote two articles for the Museum's magazine - the Naturalist. My main responsibility over the four months was to promote the special exhibit: Dig it! The Secrets of Soil, which included spearheading a promotional booth at the local Farmer's Market (pictured below). I also planned and coordinated the chefs and judges for the BugFest Critter Cook-off, the kickoff to BugFest, which is the Museum's biggest event of the year and draws upwards of 30,000 people from all over the world.
